Deception Pass State Park

September 9, 2010

The easiest way to get from Anacortes (the ferry portal for the American San Juan Islands, where we spent the previous two nights) to Olympic National Park is to drive across Whidbey Island and take the ferry to Port Townsend. On the way to the ferry, we stopped in beautiful Deception Pass State Park.

This fast-flowing channel runs between Fidalgo and Whidbey Islands.

Looking out to the west, toward the Juan de Fuca Strait.

Looking east, back toward the Puget Sound and the mainland.

The bridge across the channel.

Port Townsend, where the ferry lands. We had reached the famous Olympic Peninsula!

On to Hurricane Ridge.
