Lassen Volcanic Park

On Saturday, we visited Lassen Volcanic Park. The Lassen volcano erupted in 1915. Until the more recent eruption of Mt. St. Helens, Lassen was the leading site for the study of ecological recovery from volcanic devastation. It still features all sorts of interesting things to see, including lakes and still active thermal vents, in addition to the mountain itself.

The volcano itself.

We hiked down to beautiful, clear Shadow Lake.

We also passed Terrace Lake, as the sun was starting to go down.

The water was remarkably clear.
